At a Microsoft South Africa Awards ceremony held last night, 9th October 2018, in Johannesburg, Karabina was presented with the Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Partner of the Year, the Business Applications ERP Partner of the Year as well as the Industry Application Development Partner of the Year Awards.
The annual event recognises Microsoft partners that have excelled in delivering Microsoft solutions across several competencies with judging based on innovation, new customers, best live implementations at customers, social responsibility projects and more.
Over and above the wins, Karabina was also named as finalists in the Modern Workplace, Best New Practice and Cloud CRM categories.
This has been an amazing year for Karabina. It is the thirteenth year in a row that Karabina has won the Data Analytics Award. In 2017, they started their Microsoft Dynamics ERP practice and won the award for the first time this year. Over the past few years, Karabina has won Partner of the Year Awards for every competency they work in – Data Analytics, CRM, Digital Workplace and ERP which proves their strength in working with the entire Microsoft platform – from on-premise, hybrid and moving to the cloud and ultimately, being able to help companies in their own digital transformation journeys.
“Our growth as a company has been outstanding and I am very proud of our employees and how we deliver innovation to our customers. This past year we have learnt, evolved and offered even more relevant and impactful solutions to our customers”, says Karabina’s Managing Director, Grant van der Wal. “The leadership team had a big task this year, and once again they kept Karabina up to speed. I want to say thank you to all at Karabina. Also, a big thank you to our partner Microsoft who provide the platform for us to innovate on. They allow us to do what we really love. Thank you to our customers who are constantly driving and pushing us to deliver solutions and to always be better.”
“We are now on a new and exciting journey as we join the Altron group. With Altron, we will have the opportunity to make a bigger impact with the solutions we offer, not only to our customers but to society overall.” Grant van der Wal concludes.
Winner – Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
This is the thirteenth year that Karabina has been named the Data Analytics Partner of the Year. This year the award recognises the partner that delivers on Azure Data Services and SQL Server Premium. It is a huge achievement as this year the focus was on a relatively new area for the South African market and their customers, namely Microsoft Azure.
The Karabina Data and Analytics team have consistently added new skills to the competency and developed new ways in assisting our customers to access their data, make more informed decisions, compete and essentially grow. From data warehousing in the cloud, migrations, managed services, analytics-as-a-service to advanced and predictive analytics, machine learning and the use of artificial intelligence, the depth and breadth of skills in the company is enviable. Karabina recognised that skills in Data Science and Azure and experience in machine learning were scarce and placed an emphasis on hiring graduates and upskilling them over the past 12 months. These employees are now applying their knowledge at Karabina’s customer base and assisting them with gaining previously unknown insights which enable the customers to remain relevant and competitive.
Winner – Business Applications ERP
Karabina officially launched their ERP practice in 2017 and this is the first year they have been able to enter this category. Within this current fiscal, they were the first company in South Africa to deliver a full end-to-end Dynamics 365 project at a customer, which included Customer Engagement and Finance and Operations. They can deliver best in class finance and operations solutions using the Microsoft Dynamics platform including warehousing, transport and logistics solutions.
Winner – Industry Application Development
Karabina developed an application for the insurance industry. In an app driven economy, partners who build great software solutions for their customers create highly differentiated value. This award was given to Karabina for being a partner that has helped customers to digitally transform by leveraging Microsoft technologies and building an industry focused app that has helped their customers to modernise and move to the cloud.
Finalist – Modern Workplace
In 2016, Karabina won the Cloud Productivity Award, re-named in 2017 to the Re-inventing Productivity Award and in 2018 called the Modern Workplace Award. This award recognises partners who sell and deploy Microsoft Office 365 cloud and hybrid solutions to customers and demonstrate thought leadership in taking their customers on a journey of digital transformation, with multiple workloads delivered with Microsoft 365. From assisting companies with business process automation, workflows and employee collaboration tools, to fully fledged design and implementation of company intranets using SharePoint, to migrations and implementing solutions to manage the ever-increasing importance of risk and compliance.
